MHB's
criminal defense lawyer, Tim Ford, has broad experience in both trial and appellate work.
He has been listed for years in The Best Lawyers in America and as "Super
Lawyers" of criminal defense by Washington
Law and Politics magazine. He
has been nationally recognized for his work in capital defense
and post-conviction litigation, and he
has handled capital murder cases and lectured on criminal
defense and habeas corpus issues across the country. He has successfully defended people, and people's rights, in major
federal and state criminal cases, from trial through appeal, up to
the Supreme Court of the United States.
He received a
United Nations Human Rights award in 1996 for his capital
punishment work, and now has experience and an emphasis in his practice on death penalty cases involving international law, treaty and
human rights issues.
Tim
Ford's principal current focus in the criminal area is on appellate
and post-conviction litigation in both
state and federal court, and on consultation
and testimony as an expert witness on criminal defense standards
and issues. He has
argued and won scores of criminal appeals, many of them in
landmark decisions, in Washington, several other states, the six
federal circuits in which he is a bar member, and the Supreme
Court of the United States.
