Posted by MHB Admin

The city of Seattle has agreed to settle a lawsuit filed against it by a man who was shot in the face by police. The $2 million settlement is the largest known settlement in the city’s history of excessive force lawsuits. The lawsuit was filed against the Seattle Police Department and alleged that the plaintiff’s Fourth Amendment guarantee against illegal seizure was violated during the incident. Police came to the plaintiff’s home after reports that he was suicidal. According to the lawsuit, the plaintiff was not armed when police shot him in the face.
