MHB Settled Police Brutality Case Against Clark County

MHB lawyers David Whedbee and Tim Ford settled a case of police brutality for $250,000 against Clark County and three of its officers. Clark County sheriff’s deputies were sent to the home of Robert Cohen of Vancouver, WA because of a third-party report of suicide risk. When the deputies arrived, Mr. Cohen did not want the deputies to come in, but they entered anyway. Mr. Cohen did not consider himself suicidal, but the deputies restrained Mr. Cohen forcibly, injuring him and detaining him involuntarily. While doing this the deputies also shot and killed Mr. Cohen’s companion dog inside his home.
